Drake Goes Into “Survival” Mode On “Scorpion” Intro

Listen to Drake’s intro track of “Scorpion” with “Survival.”

It was a long time in the making, but Drake’s fifth studio album, Scorpion, was finally released yesterday. Laced with a whomping 25 tracks in total, an A side & B side, the follow up to last year’s More Life features guest appearances from Jay Z, Ty Dolla Sign, Static Major, & the late King of Pop Michael Jackson.

While there’s been several records that have been getting the attention of fans already, including “March 14” where Drake confirms being a father and “Is There More” where Drizzy alleges this album being his last under Cash Money, we’ve decided to highlight another one for y’all today called “Survival,” which serves the albums intro track.

Over production from Noah “40” Shebib & No I.D., Drizzy addresses his experiences in the rap game by mentioning significant moments from throughout his career, including his beef with Meek Mill, experiences with Cash Money records, and minor beef with Diddy. “I’ve had real Philly niggas try to write my endin’/ Takin’ shots with the goat and talked about shots that we sendin’/ I’ve had scuffles with bad boys that wasn’t pretendin’/ I’ve had too many nights to mention, that’s just the beginnin’” he spits.

Take a listen to the lyrical intro of Scorpion and let us know what you think. Scorpion available on iTunes.

Quotable Lyrics:

Niggas gamblin’ with they life for some content
That’s the type of lottery that could get your top picked
I am a cream-of-the-crop nigga
You niggas pop mollies, my Mali’s pop niggas
House on both coasts, but I live on the charts
I have tea with the stars and I swim with the sharks
And I see in the dark, wasn’t this cold at the start
Think my soul has been marked, there’s a hole in my heart
