Governor Oyetola of Osun State

Twelve new Coronavirus cases have hit Osun State, the government announced on Saturday.

It comes when Osun is about overcoming its Coronavirus nightmares, with two patients remaining in isolation centre after the state government successfully managed and discharged 18 of the 20 Coronavirus patients in the state.

But Osun’s joy is cut short as 12 new cases emerged on Saturday, taking total confirmed cases in the state to 32, with 14 active cases.

Ismail Omipidan, Chief Press Secretary to the governor, in a statement said the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu confirmed 12 more cases in Osogbo, Ife, Ede, Ikire and Ejigbo.

According to him, the state had carried out 167 tests, with 12 returned positive and that this brought the number of active COVID-19 cases in Osun to 14.

The commissioner stated that the fresh tests were carried out in the last two weeks of the lockdown, adding that the lockdown had proven effective in containing spread of the virus.

He appealed to residents not to panic and that they should stay at home in order to  curb the spread of the virus.
